3-WAY FLOORSTANDING LOUDSPEAKER
The Chora 826 bass-reflex loudspeaker is the embodiment of an accessible high-fidelity solution for a complete listening pleasure. Equipped with the exclusive Slatefiber cone developed and manufactured at the Focal site in France, the speaker drivers deliver balanced and precise midranges and perfectly articulated bass; leaving you to enjoy a big, full and generous sound. In addition, the presence of an aerodynamic front port eliminates distortion and gives more impact in the bass.
Its sleek, modern design combined with your choice of finish, and the tilted stand for a better sound image, make Chora 826 the flagship model of this line, ideal for large rooms.
The surround linking the dome to its stand uses a memory foam material called Poron. This surround is directly derived from the Utopia’s famous Beryllium tweeter and reduces distortion by a third between 2,000Hz and 3,000Hz, the ear’s high-sensitivity range. The spatialisation and very low directionality of the inverted dome allow silky trebles to be heard from any point in your listening room.
Slatefiber technology, exclusive to Focal, involves the use of recycled, non-woven carbon fibres applied as a sandwich between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. In their quest for perfection, Focal engineers have opted to use non-woven carbon fibres, all pointing in the same direction to achieve even greater rigidity and better damping.
Manufactured in the Focal workshops using an ultra-modern industrial tool, the “slate” effect of the cone provides better damping and rigidity, but also lightness – the three “essentials” of a good speaker driver.

Priced at $2000 pair and made in France, the Chora delivers exceptional musicality and nails the tone of instruments. I think finding another speaker in this price range built from the finest materials would be challenging. The Chora is a terrific speaker and one of the best values in HiFi today.
The Focal Chora is another amazing product built by a world-class company that makes outstanding speakers. Beautifully constructed the three-way design on its own is a terrific floor-standing speaker that had excellent performance.
Meticulous packaging and design work and contemporary beautiful design make it an attractive proposition in any listening room.
The speaker has excellent bass down to 48hz which in smaller rooms would eliminate the need for a subwoofer. Adding subwoofers in larger rooms makes the Chora a full-range speaker with full range bass extension. The wood finish was beautiful to look at and the sound of the speakers was exceptional in overall performance.
Home Theater Review
I can give the 826 my enthusiastic endorsement for those looking to build a great-sounding and great-looking floorstanding stereo setup that’s super forgiving in terms of placement.
if you’re thinking of picking up these speakers to pair with an existing amp, don’t fret too much if the amp doesn’t quite meet the Chora 826’s minimum recommended specs. But if you’re looking for an amp to drive these speakers, you’d do well to go with something more toward the upper end of the speakers’ recommended amplification range (40 to 250 watts per channel).
I’m really struggling to find anything to fault here. The Chora 826’s handling of Hedges’ aggressive playing style and heavy reliance on harmonics is spot on, in terms of tone, timbre, and transient response. That famous Martin just hangs in the air, and harmonics leap out further into the room with incredibly energy and not a hint of harshness.
